Best Skincare Products for Acne-Prone Skin
I frequently talk about my skin struggles on my Instagram, and it’s about time I write a blog post dedicated to it. I’ve struggled with hormonal, cystic acne for the last ten years. I’m lucky that other than on my chin, my skin is fairly clear, however, it’s VERY rare for me to have a day with completely clear skin.
In addition to my skin being acne prone, I also suffer from eczema, which makes it quite difficult to find products that combat acne and don’t flare up my eczema. I’ve found a combo of products that are working really well for me, and I want to share them with you!
I’ve linked all of my favs, but I want to specifically highlight a few for you.
The Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion is my holy grail product for cystic, under the skin, acne. It’s alcohol based, so I use it as a spot treatment for a few days when I’m noticing an under the skin pimple start to form. If I catch it early enough, this can sometimes prevent it from coming to a head entirely. Otherwise, it speeds up the process drastically.
The IS Clinical Active Serum is a newer fav for me and it’s amazing for keeping acne at bay. I had tried this product a few years ago and saw no improvement in my skin, but I tried it again and I now understand the hype. Since my skin is sensitive and eczema prone, I only use this product on my chin + nose, it dries me out too much if I use it everywhere.
A few years ago I went to my dermatologist for LED Blue Light Therapy. At that time, it wasn’t available for consumers, and I had to go in person a few times a week for my appointments. I did notice a difference in my skin, but going to see my doctor a few times a week wasn’t sustainable. When LED Face Masks hit the market, I was so excited to try them and they did NOT disappoint. I absolutely love mine and notice a huge difference in the number of pimples I have when I use it consistently. This is the one I use, and I love it! It is an investment, however, the treatments I was having at my dermatologist were $500 a month so this definitely makes more sense financially.
