Winter Skincare Necessities
This winter seems to be never ending! The weather change combined with dry indoor air from heaters really takes a toll on my skin. It's important to be aware of the skin type you have before changing your skincare routine. I have severely dehydrated skin, that is acne prone and, that gets dry in the winter. Loading my skin up with oil doesn't actually help, since my skin needs water-based products to add hydration, not add oil. I'm always switching up my skincare routine and testing out new products, and finally found a combination that works for me!Before I talk about my favourite products, I first wanted to mention a few things that are crucial in keeping your skin hydrated and happy in the winter. As obvious as it sounds, drinking water has a drastic effect on my skin, and I really notice a difference when I consistently drink water. I've also added a humidifier to my room which has helped my skin quite a bit. My last tip is to add oil into your favourite body moisturizer! I started doing this a few years ago and it makes a huge difference. Now on to the products! As I said, I'm always testing out new products, so if you have any holy grail winter skincare products, leave them in the comments below![gallery ids="298,297,296" type="square" columns="2"]
Vichy Mineral 89 Skin Booster
I've tried numerous different serums with hyaluronic acid, and this is hands down my favourite! I use it in the morning and evening before I use any oil or apply my moisturizer.
The Ordinary 100% Cold-Pressed Virgin Marula Oil
I recently purchased quite a few of The Ordinary products, and boy do they live up to the hype! This oil is filled with antioxidants and doesn't break out my acne prone skin. I apply my serum first, then this oil, and then my moisturizer on top which I find is the perfect combo for my skin in the winter!
The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors + HA
This is also new to my collection, and I've loved it! It's non-greasy but adds more than enough moisture when combined with the serum and oil I've mentioned above. This layers extremely well under my makeup, which is something I've struggled with when using other 'hydrating' moisturizers.
Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask
I've always struggled with chapped lips, to the point that I had to go to the dermatologist who prescribed a medicated a cream that I could use. I truly found that this works WAY better than the medicated products! Although it's called a sleeping mask, I use this during the day as well, and it works wonders.
First Aid Beauty Hello FAB Ginger & Turmeric Vitamin C Jelly Mask
A few months ago, First Aid Beauty sent me a few products to test out, and I absolutely fell in love with this face mask! It adds a burst of hydration but doesn't leave my skin feeling oily. It tingles a bit when I first apply it (which I personally love) and I only have to leave it on for 10 minutes to notice a difference in hydration levels, and brightness of my skin.
Ouai Scalp and Body Scrub
This scrub is fantastic for dry skin since it contains coconut oil which leaves your skin feeling moisturized after use. I use this both on my scalp to remove product buildup, and also all over my body to smooth out any dry patches. Probably my favourite thing about this is the amazing rose scent!
First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream
This has been my saviour for dry skin this winter. I use this all over my body when I get out of the shower, and it locks in moisture and leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth! The whipped formula absorbs super quickly, and doesn't ever leave my skin feeling greasy (is there anything worse!?). I personally don't have eczema; however, I've heard this product works wonders for people who do since it contains colloidal oatmeal which treats eczema explicitly. If any of you try any of these products, let me know how they work for you! Stay warm babes.xx
